I often talk about “growth for tomorrow, liquidity for today, and of course, income you can never outlive” on my podcast. But you may not know that I also wrote a book about it.
“Cross the Bridge to Retirement” was the book I wrote as an educational resource for the community and anyone who may need to understand retirement issues. I wrote it several years ago because I’ve always considered myself an educator first and an advisor second. I’ve always taken the time to get educated in whatever I do, and I’ve done that my whole life.
For my book, I started putting thoughts together and I started putting scenarios together and next thing you know, I was putting this book together.
After I put my own thoughts together, I decided to talk to different clients. I asked them, “Now that you are retired, what are the nine things that you would have wanted to know in advance of retirement? What would you like to hear if you had to read about retirement issues in simple terms?”
And all these wonderful people were generous enough to throw different ideas at me. And I took the nine most popular ones, and I started creating the book. As it started to take shape, it began to naturally be organized as starting from point A to get to point B, and then the idea for the bridge came to the forefront.
I love the title, and it really kind of makes you think about going from your working life to your retirement life and crossing that bridge at the right point. It is paramount to have a plan and be prepared for the best retirement you can have. Importantly, you have to find your own bridge. Some bridges are long, some are short, some are high, some are not. It’s very personal, and it’s about trying to keep your retirement stress-free for you and the lifestyle you want to live.
My book is written to be easy to understand, and I wanted you to be able to read it in two to three hours. I wanted to make it free for people who wanted the information, and we often give out hard copies, or we can email a PDF.
