There is no real answer to the question, “Are annuities a good idea?” It is completely dependent on your desires, your financial situation, and your need for retirement income based on your lifestyle requirements.
A retirement income annuity might help you generate the retirement income to support your lifestyle, or you may not need an annuity at all. The fact is that there are many different kinds of annuities out there, as well as new annuity options that weren’t available even five short years ago due to the new interest rate environment.
One of the things I do as a Certified Annuity AdvisorSM is utilize software to compare between hundreds of potential policies from dozens of insurance companies to see which might be the best value and which might work for you based on your unique parameters.
We don’t charge for any annuity research or consultations. In fact, our fees are paid by the independent financial institutions we work with, including insurance companies, and everything is disclosed in a transparent manner to you. At Clear Income Strategies Group, we work with clients for the long-term, and we treat our clients like family members. That’s not just a slogan; it’s the way we work.
In some cases, we may be able to use something called a “1035 Exchange” to help you easily switch from one annuity policy into another one with better terms. If you don’t feel comfortable meeting, we can do it over a Zoom call, or a phone call. You can just tell me the name of the annuity you own and where it’s from, and I’ll have it in my database. We can discuss you goals briefly, then I can run comparisons for you.
There can be a big difference between getting an annuity from one insurance company versus another. This is where going to an independent advisor is much different than working with a captive advisor that only works for one insurance company or financial institution. Captive advisors are limited. Independent advisors like Clear Income Strategies Group have access to hundreds of annuity policies, and we only work with A-rated carriers.
Because we have access to so many different types of policies, we can customize your annuity to what you need. Some people want the highest income possible for a certain number of years, with no chance for future growth. Some want lifetime income that lasts as long as they live. Other people want provisions for long-term care if they develop the need for it, while others are concerned about leaving a tax-advantaged legacy to their loved ones. There are so many options to consider, including annuities that credit interest based on stock market index performance, without actually investing in the market or subjecting your principal to market risk.
In today’s higher-interest environment, some annuities are even offering bonuses passed on to consumers, and renewal incentives. We will look at all of this for you. And I make it a point to read and explain the fine print. Importantly, we’ll explore both the pros and the cons, including the underlying fees, caps, spreads, and participation rates.
NOTE: If we need to start completely from scratch to design a personal retirement plan with retirement strategies tailored for you, we would welcome the chance!
If you want to talk about annuities, great. If you want to talk about life insurance or whole life insurance, let’s talk about it. If you want to talk about taxes, let’s talk about taxes in retirement, (and we can team up with your CPA). If you want to talk about Medicare, let’s talk about it. If you want to talk about how to fix a flat tire, I can’t help you.
We work on building a comprehensive retirement plan to help get you to and through a tax-advantaged retirement no matter how long you live. Call Clear Income Strategies Group at (704) 919-0149, text us at (704) 307-0202 or email info@cisforlife.com to discuss your personal situation!
